An immersive theatre experience that explores the memories of boat dwellers in Aberdeen through stories, music and dance
This April, bring your family and friends and join a fun outdoor theatre experience at the Secret Garden and Harbourside Lawn.
Inspired by stories collected during interviews and fieldtrips, Anchored in Memory is a site-specific work that transforms the personal memories and oral histories of the boat dweller community in Aberdeen into dance, music and immersive text and sound installations.
Staged at sunset, with the backdrop of Victoria Harbour, the experience offers insight into the everyday rituals and challenges of a fast-disappearing traditional life style.
Anchored in Memory is curated and produced by Arts Impact Fellowship 2024 awardee Kenny Leung Kim-fung as part of his work to research and document the experiences of the boat dweller community in Aberdeen.
Free admission. No advance registration required. Limited capacity on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested in joining the event, please assemble at the entrance of Secret Garden 10 minutes before the event start time.
